Golden Eagle Preview

Golden Eagle Preview

Big prize money on offer here over 1500 metres at Rosehill. Set weights for 4 year olds in what looks a pretty open contest. Here’s my on top hopes for the 10 million dollar Golden Eagle.

Amelia’s Jewel wasn’t 100% in her last outing and will forgive and forget that run. Prior to that was an impressive winner at The Valley over a mile and in an extremely quick time. 1500 looks an ideal trip for her and from barrier 5 will find a prominent spot midfield and should be dashing home late. Is a classy mare and expect her to bounce back in a big way.

Hawaii Five Oh was good in The Everest and steps up to 1500 for the first time. Is a Group 3 winner at 1400 and is always consistent. From a good gate should find the box seat and with Nash Rawiller on board will be given every possible chance. Is fit and ready to fire.

Legarto was a listed winner in her last outing and prior to that placed in a Group 1 over 7 furlongs behind Skew Wiff who was ok at Caulfield in her Australian debut. Did win the Australian Guineas last preparation defeating some handy horses and looks well placed to strike here. Will roll forward and be just outside the leader and will make her own luck. Handy horse and will be in the finish.

Rutheless Dame was game last start behind Espiona over 1400 metres. Was game in her one run at the track and trip and has improved lengths since then. Drawn wide but will slot back in midfield and will be making her run late. Place chance.

Osipenko has been running in stronger races and drops back to a more suitable trip. Had a handy tick over trial in between and does race well at Rosehill. Will get a good run midfield from gate 8 and will run his usual consistent race. Genuine place chance.

On top hope is Amelia’s Jewel to bounce back from that poor performance, with Legarto and Hawaii Five Oh to fight out the minors and Opisenko in for fourth.
