THE FORECAST: GROUNDHOG DAY
What about Bill Murray. Consider the body of work he has produced over the journey.
Caddyshack. Ghostbusters. Lost In Translation. Stripes. The Life Aquatic. Kingpin. The man is a genius. 73-years old. Absolute genuine bloody American national treasure.
Don’t forget Groundhog Day. What a flick. Anyone who can simultaneously seduce Andie McDowell while wrangling a rogue weather obsessed rodent is worthy of legend status. What a man.
If Bill Murray was a punter, he might be looking at Sunday’s Sunshine Coast meeting with a sense of deja vu; a wet track, more rain forecast, races abandoned a week earlier in the same set of circumstances, Groundhog Day looms.
All we want to do is have a crack at KNOW THYSELF (R6 No. 5) life shouldn’t be this hard!
If only we could predict the future like Bill, I mean Phil. We’d smash the punt and have a genuine shot with Andie. After all, we gotta stay ahead of the weather.
At Caulfield the weather has been wet. Not wet wet, but soft wet. Some horses just love mud.
EL ROCKO (R2 No. 7) likes it wet. Friend of Mintbet The Azzman has a share too; not to be confused with The Assman from Seinfeld (although Azz is reputedly handy with a rubber glove) of course. Azzman is confident. I’m confident. Each-way all day long.
At Randwick there’s a BEAR ON THE LOOSE (R9 No. 9) and he looks the standout bet on the card. We can test the form from his first-up romp earlier in the day when runner-up from that race DON DIEGO DE VEGA (R5 No. 2) lines up in a very winnable BM78.
The last time I saw a bear on the loose, a good time was had by all. A very good time. Well except the people that got eaten. Have a good weekend punters.
BEST: Randwick R9. No. 9
BEST EACH-WAY: Caulfield R2 No. 7 EL ROCKO
BEST ROUGHIE: Sunshine Coast R5 No. 10 PORT PHILLIP
