THE FORECAST: BJORN AGAIN
Who doesn’t love Bjorn Baker? All 6-foot3 of that mad half-Kiwi-half-Swede slam dunking celebration machine. Just add a few pints, a winner, and watch him go.
He’s a bit of fun isn’t he? But crikey, can the man train a horse!
Bjorn heads west again with his old mate OVERPASS on Saturday afternoon to try and make it a rarest of rare double-double in dubbleya-ay; back-to-back Quokkas and back-to-back Winterbottoms. It’s an obscure feat if the horse can pull it off and if he does, it might not be ever done again.
Forget the wide gate, Josh Parr will come across along with speedster BRAVO CENTURION, camp on him, apply the pressure turning in and then put them away. Let’s get this double done Bjorny-boy, for once I won’t be dodging you at the afters if you get this bloke home. ROCKIN RUPERT at massive odds to run on into a place.
The Baker team are critical to my weekend because they send ARAPAHO south for the G2 Zipping Classic and I am very keen on him getting the job done. Let’s pause for a minute on Zipping, how bloody good was that horse? When you’re talking crowd favourites in the pantheon of Australian racing, the Zipmeister General is surely on the podium.
The Bureau of Mediocrity are playing games again – between 3mm and 20mm is forecast for Melbourne on Saturday. That’s like taking the field in the first leg of the quaddie – have a bloody go meteorologist! You can’t plan anything with that sort of forecast, makes me think they’re up to something…
Stay dry punters. Stay dry and keep an eye on your indoor plants.
