THE PUNTING MONOLOGUE - LISTEN

The Toorak Preview

Tasty Toorak grants the punters their wish?

The Toorak Handicap is the last group 1 of the day at Caulfield over the mile at The Heath. A field containing some of the emerging talents of the season and some conditioned veterans of which will shape up for a mouth-watering battle at The Heath.

I Wish I Win could be a star in the making and finally gets a chance at group 1 glory this prep.  Had no right to win at Sandown last start yet ran down a smart one in Ayrton.  His sectional times are sensational and stepping up to 1600m where has run well in New Zealand.  Clear on top hope and will be hard to beat.

Dalasan has been so consistent in group 1s in the past and gets his chance again here.  He broke that winning drought at Morphetville first up and his second up run in The Rupert Clarke was very good.  Does draw wide but should slot in well with a lot of pace up front. Will be running them down late and is a good exotics play here.

Tuvalu was good in the Rupert Clarke and should be primed second up of which he’s never ran out of the placings.  Back up to 1600m and will get a super run on the speed from barrier 1.  Sneaky winning chance and a genuine place hope here.

Gentleman Roy has been racing extremely well and steps back up to 1600 a range where he’s always a winning hope.  Has run well at Caulfield in the past and although does rise in grade will be ultra-competitive again.

Pinstriped hit the line strongly last time and is a horse on the rise.  Has been racing well in lesser grade however this is a tougher task.  Tricky draw but should follow the back of I Wish I Win and will be chasing him down.  Contender if things go right.

On top hope is I Wish I Win, he’s clearly the horse to beat off the back of his last two runs with Tuvalu and Gentleman Roy in for the placings with Dalasan for fourth.
