THE PUNTING MONOLOGUE - LISTEN

Magic Millions Day Preview

It’s Magic Millions Day and with millions of dollars of prize money on offer the big guns of Queensland and the southern raiders are out and about. Here’s my best bets for the features today on the Gold Coast.

Magic Millions 2-Year-Old Classic

Platinum Jubilee is tactically versatile and beat Empire Of Japan last start at Randwick when just edged out at the post by Fire Lane. Will sit just behind the leaders and should be rock hard fit for this. On this tight turning track, I have to have him on top for the classic.

Magic Millions 3-Year-Old Guineas

Yellow Brick has put together a string of wins and there’s no reason as to why he can’t do that again. He rises in grade but was dominant when leading last start at Toowoomba defeating Alpine Edge in The King Of The Mountain. He should get a soft lead and should be able to run them into the ground. Dangers though are the filly Russian Conquest and Tijuana who will both be sitting just off the pace and will be chasing Yellow Brick down late.

Magic Millions Cup

Emerald Kingdom is another horse who should be able to find the lead and control the race. He won convincingly last start in similar company. He’s won at the track and trip before and should be hard to beat if he is left in control. Dangers are the favourite Oscar Zulu who will sit just off the speed and Vega One who always runs well second up.

Magic Millions Open

Alpine Edge should be too good after being game in defeat when chasing down Yellow Brick last start. Has previously been racing well in this class. He has good third up form and has liked racing at the Gold Coast in the past. If Yellow Brick runs well, I’m sure Alpine Edge will be hard to beat. He also gets the services of James McDonald who should only compliment his chances further.
