Underwood Stakes Preview

Featured post

It’s Underwood Stakes Day at Caulfield and what a feature we have in store punters! A Weight for Age contest over 1800 metres with some of the country’s finest set to do battle. Track will be in the good range with the rail out 6 metres so here’s my on top hopes for the Group 1 Underwood Stakes.

Without A Fight has returned in terrific order looking very impressive at the trials. Fist up record is very handy. Has drawn wide but will get back in the field and capitalise on what looks to be a solid tempo. The one to beat.

Tuvalu has been racing well and gains the services of Jamie Kah. Loves Caulfield will be rock hard fit third up. Has drawn wide but will roll forward regardless and make his own luck on the speed which is usually a good advantage at Caulfield. Must be respected and is a main danger.

Right You Are was very good first up over 1600 and rises to a more suitable distance now. Has had a quiet tick over jump out since then and should be rock hard fit ready for this. Has won twice at Caulfield and expect him to run his usual honest race here.

Alligator Blood was game behind Mr Brightside a week ago and will be ready to go on the quick back up. Won this race last year and will be looking to go back to back. Barrier 8 should allow him to cross lead and dictate and give him every chance to claim another Group 1.

Lindermann has had some minor issues in his first and second up assignments. Rises to a more suitable trip now and is fit and ready to roll. Was only beaten a length last start behind Navajo Peak and Think It Over who claimed the 7 Stakes. Form reads good enough to be an each way chance here.

Soulcombe was dominant first up over 1700 metres at Caulfield, does face a big jump in grade but looks to have plenty of ability and upside. Blake Shinn stays aboard and will get a soft run midfield from a good draw. Genuine place chance.

On top hope is Without A Fight I believe he’s the class horse in the race and looks well placed to kick off his spring campaign. Right You Are and Tuvalu to fight out the minors with Alligator Blood in four fourth.
