Memsie Stakes Preview

Group 1 racing returns to Victoria! It’s Memsie Stakes day at The Heath and what a race we have in store for us over the seven furlongs. Good track, good horses should ultimately provide a good race for the punters. Here’s my on top hopes for the first major of the spring.

Mr Brightside was dominant here last start and should only improve from that impressive win. Has won twice second up and has race fitness on his side in comparison to other horses supported in the market. Has drawn wide but will drop back just off midfield and will have an uninterrupted run late. The one to beat here.

I Wish I Win looks like it might need the run however on it’s best form it is well and truly capable of taking this out. Trialed up impressively at Pakenham and has never been out of the placings fresh and over this trip. The main danger.

Alligator Blood runs well fresh and has trialed well in Sydney leading up to this in some hot heats. Has drawn wide but will roll forward in a race with little speed predicted. Has won 6 times over this distance and previously before at Caulfield. Will be in it for a long way.

Princess Grace has a perfect second up record and was huge behind Fangirl in the Winx Stakes first up. Has drawn extremely well to sit just behind the speed and gains the services of Blake Shinn who will certainly benefit her chances. A genuine horse who is always around the mark and once again expect her to be here.

Aegon was eye catching first up behind Mr Brightside. Runs well second up and at this track and trip. Will roll back from that wide alley and will be expecting him to be flashing home late yet again. One for the exotics.

Nonconformist is a smokey chance to run well here at very long odds. He did trial up well at Cranbourne and although is suited over longer trips can be very competitive fresh and over this trip.

On top hope is Mr Brightside he just seems to keep improving and looks suited to make it back to back wins. I Wish I Win in for second with Alligator Blood and Princess Grace to complete the top four.
