All Aged Stakes Day Preview

Champagne Stakes – 2YO-G1

Militarize won The Sires in a dominant display and draws well to have things go his way again. This horse looks to grow a leg in the wet and stepping up an extra furlong won’t be a problem at all. Looks extremely well placed to make it back to back Group 1’s with Joao Moreira staying aboard and a good speed up should get all the favours again. The on top and one to beat.

Tom Kitten won at this track and trip last start on heavy going in what was a gutsy display. The week back up is going to benefit and will come into this rock hard fit and primed for the assignment. Is proven in these conditions and is the main danger.

Make A Call was good enough behind Tom Kitten last start and has been ultra consistent this preparation. Will take good improvement from that run and draws well for a cozy run. Tom Marquand takes the ride which is a positive and should be figuring late and is a good place hope.

Pier Pressure was good through the line behind Militarize and got caught on the inferior part of a rain affected track making that run all the more impressive. Draws an inside alley again here which could be problematic but with luck has the ability to be in the finish and is a genuine place chance.

All Aged Stakes 1400m WFA-G1

Giga Kick finds a very suitable race here off the back of a very impressive run behind I Wish I Win. Steps up to 1400m for the first time which should suit and has performed on a heavy track. From the wide barrier will drop back and with Craig Williams back in the saddle will be smashing the line late and running over the top of them. The on top hope and the one to beat.

Cascadian is a proven Group 1 winner and drops back from the mile to 7 furlongs which should suit. Is a genuine wet tracker. He claimed this race last year and in the conditions looks well placed again to give things a shake up here and retain his crown. The main danger.

Mazu was super in the TJ and does rise in distance which he has placed over once in the past. Will get a good run with a genuine tempo predicted and is a genuine wet tracker. Expected to be in the finish and a genuine place chance in these conditions.

Jacquinot has won three from three from the trip and is a proven Group 1 winner. The wet track is going to be the concern for him. However, will be saved up just behind the midfield to be running on and having a crack late. Place hope here.
