THE PUNTING MONOLOGUE - LISTEN

THE WEEKEND WRAP – Our Kobison – Ben Clifton

Weekend Wrap

Bit of a down week before the good horses step out next week but still plenty of horses to follow.

Star Performer of the week

Randwick Race 5- won by Our Kobison

Date: 10/08/24

Race Overview – They went out only moderately but scooted home quickly.

  • Our Kobison – Is building a good record and returned well. Time to step up to Group company now and he is up to it.
  • Le Melody – First start for new camp. Couldn’t have gone any better.
  • Sebonack – Great return. Has really good formlines from last campaign and might be in for a good prep.

Highlight Races from the Weekend

Belmont Race 1 – won by Under Influence

Date: 10/08/24

Race Overview – Out quick and home even quicker. This will be a potent formline.

Horses to follow:

  • Under Influence – Has flown here. Past few runs had been good. Probably got no improvement in it this campaign but can win again with the right set up.
  • Songaa – Absolutely airborne this horse. Love to see what Pike could do with him.
  • Made in Mexico – Beaten favourite but have to follow out of a race of this strength with that SP.

Sunshine Coast Race 1 – won by Cosmo Centaurus

Date: 10/08/24

Race Overview – Did it at both ends here. Nice sharp time for a maiden race.

  • Cosmo Centaurus – Big raps on him from Heathcote before the race. Hard to argue with him after that.
  • Dream Start – Ready to win.

Maiden Winner/s of the Week:

My favourite segment.

Date: 7/8/24

Sandown-Lakeside Race 2 – won by Daggers.

Why: Overall time is very sharp and really good late sectionals.

Horses to follow from the race:

  • Daggers – Impossible training partnership to follow but this horse couldn’t have gone any better on debut. Looks a nice horse.
  • Athanatos – Loaded with talent. Will win races.

Other Notable Horses/Jockeys:

  • Axius – impressive maiden winner at Canterbury.
  • Schwarz – Not convinced about him. Happy to be against going forward.
  • Explosive Torpido – Impressive maiden winner.
